Angel's Visit

Picture

Like fairy dust it filled the air, and floated to the ground,
All shapes and sizes glittering, not makings a single sound.
So I ran outside to touch it, and maybe I could fly,
Maybe it was angel dust, sifted from the sky.

I reached out far to grab some, but saw it disappear,
‘"If only I could keep some," as I conjured up a tear.
I’d save some for a gloomy day, to brighten up the sky,
I’ll throw it back and ask for more, where it’s stored up high.

I stood and watching it glitter, as hours passed that night,
You really should have been there, it was quite a sight.
It hugged the trees and painted the grass, made the night much lighter.
It took the shape of objects, and the Earth kept getting whiter.

The angels were creating a heaven below, soon they‘d be our guest,
So to prepare for their arrival, I knew I’d need some rest.
So I laid myself down to sleep, and closed my tired eyes,
But only to awake the next day, to a saddening surprise.

I guess I must have missed them, while I pleasantly slept,
Because they took back their heavenly blanket, I guess they already left.
